Plans for establishing a New England Ocean Cluster House in Portland, Maine have gained media attention in the US in the past week. At a reception last Tuesday intended to deepen the relationship between Maine and Iceland, Thor Sigfusson CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, US ambassador to Iceland, Rob C. Barber, Iceland’s ambassador to the US, Geir Haarde, Maine city officials, entrepreneurs and investors discussed these ideas.

Fox News’ article says: “The project is called the New England Ocean Cluster House, and it is the product of a partnership between Portland officials and investors located here and in Iceland. City officials and investors on Tuesday announced the plan to potentially locate dozens of new businesses in the city-owned building on the pier.”

“Eighteen businesses have expressed interest in locating their operations in the former transit shed on the Maine State Pier. The 30,000-square-foot space would include shared spaces to foster an exchange of ideas” adds Portland Press Herald.
