Polar Fishing Gear was established in 2005, but is based upon more than 35 years of experience in development, design, sales and marketing of trawl doors.

Polar doors are high efficient trawl doors where main focus is to maintain high spreading force but more importantly, to reduce resistance for the benefit of more economical operation and reduced fuel consumption.

Today, Polar doors are positioned as one of the leading companies in modern trawl door design with suitable models for all major fishing from bottom fishing to semi-pelagic and pelagic fishing. Mercury and Hercules semi-pelagic doors and Jupiter pelagic doors are widely used with “off the seabed” bottom fishing where the trawl doors are rigged to work off the bottom while the trawl is set on the bottom.

Polar’s newest invention, Poseidon “Remote Controlled Trawl Door” is on its developing stage with good progress where Flume Tank models have proven very good performance to control the position of the doors both horizontally and vertically in the water.

A pair of Poseidon doors will be tested on Icelandic research vessel in autumn but its focus is to fit pelagic fishing and seismic survey operations.

Polar doors are manufactured by qualified partners in Iceland, Portugal, Argentina and China and are used in all continents in the world.
