A new Ocean Cluster Analysis describes growth and growth opportunities in ocean biotechnology and advanced marine processing.

“At the moment, Iceland is home to over 30 companies that specialize in ocean biotechnology and advanced processing of rest raw material. The total turnover of these companies in 2012 was just over 18 million EUR and grew 17% between 2011 and 2012. It is important that the opportunities in advanced marine processing and biotechnology are utilized. Cooperation between fisheries, biotech companies, seafood processors and rest-raw material processors can enable new developments and yield new and valuable products. The field of ocean-biotech and advanced marine processing is a potential growth machine in need of patient capital in the coming years.”
